My mother suffered a series of 3 strokes 31/2 years ago.  She too had a problem with choking.  The little flap in the back of the throat that closes the opening for air when swallowing was damaged by one of the strokes.  I'm not sure if this is normal with all stroke victams, but this did happen to my mother also.  Her's got so bad they had to put her on a feeding tube because she kept getting inhalation phnemonia.  She also had many head aches, but the main artery that feeds the brain stem had a kink in it that eventually formed an anerism.  Beings how blood clots to the brain is the cause of a stroke.  Maybe, you should have your husband see the doctor again.  I hope that this helps you.  I do know that all cases are different and that my mothers was a very severe case.  But, I do believe that it is something that needs to be checked.  Best to you!!
