I had typhoid for 1 month during my schooling and had stone in urethra for 4 months but flash out during urination. Now I am 34 male, Indian and still I have acidity / gastric
and I don’t fell pain but discomfort. Sometimes my scrotum is moving downward when I stand up suddenly. So because of these reason I have concerned a senior surgeon doctor they (3 doctors) examined my symptom. I coughed but don’t feel pain, then the doctor put his finger
They verify the report and again examined the same coughing method .Doctor advised me to do surgery. My report is found negative and I feel I don’t have hernia but I know I have some problem.
Looking for second opinion
1. If this is hernia then should I need surgery?
2. What kind of doctor I need to consult now.
3. Can I concern a specialist doctor for Intestine?
Yes, you have a hernia and it should indeed be surgically repaired. It is a fairly straightforward operation. The reason it should be repaired is because it bothers you so much that you haven't been running like you used to, so it is disrupting your normal life. Also, if an uncomfortable hernia is left untreated, your guts will seep out of the rip in the muscle there. The reason I think it is a hernia is because three docs said you have one. One of the docs who diagnosed the hernia and said you needed surgery, he can refer you to a doc that will do it, and then you'll get an appointment set up for the operation. Recovery
should be relatively short, a few weeks, but you should be able to get up within a few days and do light activities.
Another thing it could be is a problem with your appendix, which you would feel a lot of pain on your right side at the lower mid-front of your abdomen, but the docs would have checked for that first, there are several signs that point to that, plus the sonogram would have detected that, and since they instead decided it was a hernia, then there is little likelihood that it is your appendix.
Yet another possibility is you have some lymph glands that are swollen, they are located on both sides of the lower inner-front of your abdomen. But again, they would have checked for that, swollen lymphs would have felt tender to you when they touched that area, and there are signs like fever that point to that problem, too.
Last thing I can think of is a benign growth of some kind, but they would have felt that and/or seen that on the sonogram.
I hope this settles it for you, and I hope you will go ahead and have it operated on, so you can go back to running again in a month or so. Hernias are very common, docs have seen a bunch of them, and they know how to test for it, which your exam suggested you've got one from what you described. If you still have doubts, when you see the doc who suggested surgery and have him set up an operation for you, you can ask him how come it's not something besides that and tell him how come you don't think it's a hernia, so he can put your mind at ease.
