Symptoms

It seems that when I look up symptoms for esophageal cancer, hiatal hernia, and GERD, that they all have the same symptoms with the exception of bleeding (which is late in the cancer stages).  Knowing that I have a hiatal hernia and GERD, how might I get a clue from symptoms if I were developing esophageal cancer without getting a regular endoscope?

Never had the endoscope but it's coming soon.  I've had colonoscopy.    I found the hernia from MRI  for a neck problem.   I'm not reluctant to get an endoscope as I hear it's easier than colonoscopy. I guess I'll just have to add endoscope to the inspection schedule.
