Taste In Mouth § Gas

by JamesT, Sep 16, 2001 12:00AM
I am a 20, otherwise healthy male.
Over the past few weeks I have noticed a funny taste in my mouth that happens only at nightime, from about 9pm onwards.  The only way I can describe it is like the taste you get after licking an envelope.  Not sweet/sour or anything like that, just kindof gluey - just like after licking an envelope. The taste is strongest at the back of my mouth.  By the time I wake up in the morning it is gone.  I have also noticed I have bad flatulence as well which has lasted around the same time as the taste.  The wind smells much worse than my usual wind does.  The occasional stomach ache aswell, but nothing major in that area.

Just for your info, I had irritable bowel syndrome a few months back but it was cleared up with tablets.  I am also on Accutain 20mg a day for acne.  I have been on those for over a month now tho.
Any ideas?  Should I see the doctor?  The taste is very unpleasant.  Thanks.

My guess is the taste in your mouth is being caused by the acne medicine. I would simply ask the physician who prescribed it whether this is a common side effect.
