Test for visceral hypersensitivity?

I have GERD and IBS and have a lot of pain from these conditions. My Gastro doctor today told me to keep taking my PPI medication and start taking a probiotic and if this didn't help by my next checkup in a few weeks that we would probably need to do a test for hypersensitivity. What kind of test is done to check for this visceral hypersensitivity?
