The liver and medication

by LucyLou, Jun 28, 2001 12:00AM
Hi, I went on long term disablity beacuse I developed acute hepatitis.  I had liver failure and kidney failure, was in a coma, dialysis, etc...
My Dr. mentioned that I probably only have 40% of my liver, meaning that the rest of the cells are dead.  How can she come up with that figure?
Also, my disability co. terminated my benefits and in order to return to a working environment, I'd have to take anti-anxiety medication indefinately on a daily basis.  I see they can cause damage, and to consult my physician if I have any liver problems ... well, I am not sure this is a chance I want to take.  Should I be right for not wanting to take these medications?  My doctor told me never to take tylenol, or even birth control.
I would appreciate a response to both questions.
Thank you very much ~ Lisa
