Trading Gall Bladder for Back Pain???

by ladyclotho, Jul 16, 2009 06:56PM
I had my gall bladder removed on June 18, 2009.  The moment I woke up from my surgery, the first words out of my mouth were, "My back hurts so bad".  The nurses looked at me with confusion as if they had no clue why my back would hurt.  The pain is intense, mid back, just to the right of the spine.  It's been almost a month now, and in the last week, it's progressed to radiate down my left hip.  That pain feels definitely like nerve pain, so bad at times I wonder if I'm going to fall.  My surgeon has done an ultrasound, bloodwork, and a CT scan.  All which have come back clean.  He referred me to Ortho, who just looked at my X-ray and said it was muscular (just this week).  How could that be?? It happened while I was knocked out, for surgery!  Also, wouldn't it have healed within a month's time if it were muscular? I have no abdominal pain anymore, but the back pain is crippling.  Motrin, Darvocet and Amrix are the only way i've managed to deal with it, but even then it's barely manageable.  Anyone know what it is?  Anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with it?
