. Surgery was perfomred using a laproscope without complications. The patient was discharged approximately 15 hours post surgery. The patient continued to have abdominal pains and develped lack of appetite. On September 12 she was readmitted to the hopital with a low grade fever
was moderately elevated. It was discovered upon a CT scan that she had developed an abscess adjacent to the cecum. On September 13 a PICC line was inserted into her right subclavian
vein and she has been given antibiotics Q12 hours since then. Each week she has had an ultrasound to gauge the size of the abscess and it has been reducing in size (now approx 2.25cm x 2.17cm x 2.44cm), however, it contains 7mL of liquid. Last WBC was 10.9 on September 26. Is the abscess every going to completely be eliminated or is this patient expected have it forever. Also, what other treatments are available to treat. Should the antibiotics be stopped and continued observation be the course of action?
