Dear Dove,
It is difficult to know what your physician meant by a twisted colon. How did h e reach this conclusion? Did he suggest that there was an obstruction? Is your husband anemic? Does he have other medical conditions that can explain some or all of his symptoms.
I suggest that you talk to your husband's physician to gain more information regarding his approach to your husband's problem, including possible therapies. Share your concerns with him so that he may attempt to reassure you.
This information is presented for educational purposes only. Always consult your personal physician for specific medical questions.
If you want, we would be happy to see your husband in the Division of Gastroenterology at Henry Ford Hospital and perform the appropriate investigations after we have had the chance to meet him and to review the history in greater detail. You can arrange an appointment with Dr. Fogel, one of our experts in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal disease by calling the Henry Ford Physician Referral Line at (800)653-6568.
