After months of stomach problems my doc begrudgingly referred me for an abdominal ultrasound. At the end of the scan when the technician was looking at my gall bladder she asked me if I'd just had anything to eat or drink. I told her I'd had a glass of water about 8 hours ago and nothing since but she seemed a bit skeptical. I asked her why and she said because my gall bladder looked (I can't remember the word she used) distended? contracted? or whatever it is the gall bladder is supposed to look like after you've just consumed something.
What could this mean in terms of my gall bladder? I'm still waiting for her report to go to the GP so I'm a bit anxious. I also recently had raised liver enzymes indicated by a hospital blood test.
I should mention that I frequently have constant gurgling, bubbling coming from the area under my right ribRib cage pain cage which is where I presume my gall bladder is. Sometimes this can go on for several hours during the night although I have no pain from that area.
According to the tech everything else looked ok. With what percentage of certainty does this rule out some really serious problems?
Sounds like a problem with your gallbladder to me. Have you seen the doctor for the results of the ustrasound? If not, get the results and go from there, but I am pretty sure your gallbladder is not functioning well.
