AFP only has a sensitivity between 40 and 60 percent for
hepatocellularHepatocellular carcinoma carcinoma. If the imaging shows masses or lesions, this deserves further workup despite a
normalNormal saline flush AFP.
Further imaging is necessary, including a CT scan or PET scan to further determine the primary focus of the cancer and for preparation of possible biopsy.
