Unexplained Nausea

Greetings!

I am a 66 year old male. I'm 5' 8," 150 lbs.  I do triathlons and have a good level of fitness.  I've had Reflux disease for about 12-15 years which has been treated successfully with one 20 mg Prilosec daily.  Instead of the normal heart burn my primary symptom is nausea.  Over the years the nausea has gradually become more frequent and more intense but has been more or less relieved by increasing the dose of Prilosec to two 20 mg tablets.

I have nausea usually associated with meals and frequently in the middle of the night.  Over the last few years I have had periods when the nausea subsided, but recently the frequency and intensity of the nausea has become more severe.  This last episode has lasted about two months causing me to lose 5 lbs.  My GI physician ordered the following tests all with negative results:  EGD;  Colonoscopy;  CT Scan (Chest/Abdomen/Pelvis);  and HIDA Scan (81% ejection fraction).

A few years ago my daughter had very similar symptoms of nausea.  Her HIDA Scan ejection fraction was within a normal range, but she opted to remove her gall bladder. Fortunately, the gall bladder turned out to be diseased and her nausea was totally cured.

Can the culprit be the gall bladder even though the tests are negative?  Are there other tests to more conclusively rule out the gall bladder? What else could be causing the nausea?  What can I do next?

Thanx in advance!
