Unexplained Stomach Discomfort - Please Help

Hi,

I am typing this on Friday 10/10/08 at around 9:30 Central Time.  I became ill Monday evening 10/06/08 around 11pm Central time.  So, I've been experiencing the following issues for nearly 4 days now.  After a complete blood workup (everything OK, except Hemoglobin slightly elevated) and 2 doctor visits in 3 days I'm at a loss as to what is going on....

Symptoms:
- "Heavy, full & protruding" stomach - especially after eating.
- Stomach Discomfort & Nausea to the point of having to take prescription anti-nausea meds (Promethezine I think?)
- Low Grade Fever off and on (no higher than 100.3)
- Chills
- Aches and Pains

Any ideas?  The possibilities I've come up with are: stomach ulcer, gastroenteritis, bad case of the flu...??

A little background: I was taking aleve and ibuprofen for back issues as well as tramadol and Armour for a thyroid disorder.  On Monday my doc became concerned when I mentioned that I had previously had heartburn and told me to stop the NSAIDS immediately and go on Protonix, a prescription med for one week.  I took one pill of that and all these symptoms showed up later that evening.  I have no idea if they're related - nor does my doc...

I just know I'm in agony.

Anyone else out there experiencing this?  It could just be the "perfect storm" - bad rxn to the Protonix + flu + stomach bug...??

Oh, and also we made some homemade liquor - pineapple soaked in vodka for 2 weeks.  We each (my fiance and I) had one drink of this on Sunday mid-day, then put it back in the fridge, and then I had another one Monday evening before going out to a friend's birthday party (and having another glass of wine + random munchies and cake).  I came home feeling as if I had drank an entire bottle of wine - I was extremely nauseated!  I finally forced myself to throw up but only a little bit came out.  I could not sleep that night.  The next morning when my fiance woke up I was in a lot of pain and discomfort stomach wise - it was very difficult to speak or move... let alone drive 45 minutes to my doctor.  The symptoms seemed to have let up a bit but I still cannot eat much (even though my brain seems to think I can!) as I get full VERY quickly and shortly thereafter am in a good deal of discomfort with a belly that looks (not just feels) very full...

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.  I've been sticking to a fairly bland diet.  Obviously no alcohol - mainly saltines, chicken noodle soup, Ramen, applesauce... though yesterday I did have a little bit of a turkey sandwich and tonight a bit of meatloaf, a few green beans and some baked potato without the skin.

I have no insurance so I'm praying for a miracle here... ;)

Oh and everything was fine today up until about an hour ago.  I can't tell if that was due to eating a subway sandwich or getting up and walking around for a minute.  Still a little better than yesterday though so I guess that's a good sign

Nope - no one else from the party is sick (including my fiance, who ate just about everything else I did - minus the pineapple vodka on the 2nd occasion..).

Had diarrhea Tues - Thurs, but haven't really gone since then so def. might be blocked up there...

I'm taking Zantac OTC right now.

did the homemade goodies bother anyone else?

a good cleaning out might work? who knows

try chewable vitamin c's every hour till you get bad poops- may help the gas/bloat

cheapest way to start anyway-
I understand about no insurance - I was in that predicament last year and it''s no fun! but sounds like you are improving in the eating department
I didn't like any of the RX meds for GI problems - I tried the all- Tagamet works best for me and IS SUPER CHEAP
