My mom has been sick for 4 years, she had polymyalgia that developed into RA. She took nsaids and prednzone for 3 1/2-4 years. Recently she began treatment with Embrel and methrotexate. She is feeling better in terms of pain BUT for the past 3 weeks she has had very black stool and was admitted to the hospital because her hemoglobin dropped to 8.3. Her blood pressure and heart was very high...
She had a transfusion (4 pints), an endoscopy, a colonoscopy, everything was clear....she was released after 2 1/2 days but now is back in the ER because she doesn't feel well, her stool is still black...
What else could this be??? She has stopped taking nsaids...how can they find where she is bleeding!!
