Upper abdominal pain - bloating, very uncomfortable

by yotbin, Oct 24, 2009 10:03AM
In the past week I've had two episodes of upper abdominal pain (like a rock in the pit of my stomach) and pain under my ribs on left and right side. The pain and fullness is so miserable all I can do is just lay down hoping it will pass. It eventually does after a few hours. The first attack was after a very large meal, after that I went on a bland diet, so the second attack was after a grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce and tomato, which puzzled me. The pain does radiate to my back and my left arm tingles during the episode and from time to time afterwards. I went to an internist and he is doing bloodwork, hopefully he'll call me Monday, but I'm pretty much living in fear of eating. I've lost 10 pounds in 10 days. This morning I had a bm that was light (clay) colored and loose...could this be pancreatitis? What can I do to prevent it from happening again. I did have my gallbladder out in Jan 2009, I had a ton of gallstones. I would just like some peace knowing what it is.
