Upper endoscopy results

I  just got my upper endoscopy done today. On the sheet my doctor gave me his findings read "patulous lower exophageal sphinter" and "Gastric mucosal abnormality characterized by erythema". He also took a biopsy of part of my stomach where that gastric mucosal abnormality was. I guess that means my doctor said he saw red inflamated parts of my stomach. But I am just wondering what exactly those two terms mean? Apparently I have GERD becuase of all the acid being built up....I am supposed to follow up with my doctor in 2-3 weeks.

It is normal to feel a little sore after getting an endoscopy but if it continues you should call you doctor about it.  The esophageal sphincter is at the lower end of the esophagus and it connects the stomach and the esophagul.  Yours is just a little loose and this makes it more likely for you to get heartburn.

Well he diagnosed me with GERD for the first thing I didnt really notice I had bad reflux. But was telling my girlfriend I feel like I have been having these small bubbles comming up my chest (burps) through out the day. But not really like heart burn because I have had heartburn and that really bothers me. I dont know what the esphogal sphincter even is.... I am guessing thats where the acid is released up through the esphogus? I was told to start taking Prilosec everyday. I also feel sore in the stomach area the day after is that normal? I guess this explains that swollen painful abdomen feeling I had. I'm glad I went through with it.

Both finding depend on the context.  For the first one, the doctor should have said if this was very minor (so that it doesn't mean anything) or more severe to that it needs to be looked into.  You are right that the second thing means a red inflammed part of your stomach; the biopsy will give you more information about that.  For now, just relax and wait until the report comes back.
