Upper left abdominal discomfort

In September of 2007 i started having discomfort on my upper left side near my belly button. It doesnt hurt when i first had the discomfort i thought my neice was punching me in the stomach but she wasnt. I notice i get the feeling sometimes when im laying down and try to sit up using my stomach muscles. I had a baby in June 2007. Also ever since then i have bathroom problems either its to hard to go or its like diarhea (diarrhea). Please if you have any answers that would help thank you
