Very large Hiatus Hernia

by lyndarene, Jul 25, 2009 08:11AM
I am 60 years old and have been experiencing breathlessness more than normal lately and was wondering if it could be to do with my Hiatus Hernia as I have a very large one!  I have had scans on my heart and that doesn't seem to be the problem and I am also experiencing Sleep Apnea symptoms at night.

A large hiatal hernia may allow gastric acid to move into the esophagus. If the reflux is 'high,' aspiration of acid may cause problems with breathing. You may want to ask your doc to do some testing.
