WHY SHOULD I TAKE OFLOXACIN TO TREAT AMOEBIOSIS?

Respected Doctor,

For treating Amoebiosis, my GP has given me Satrogyl-O tablets, which contain Satranidazole - 300mg and Ofloxocin -200mg.

I saw in internet that Satronidazole - 300mg/day for 10 days is given to treat Amoebic Liver Absess (abscess) while Ofloxacin has no function with Amoebic infection. Further, Ofloxacin, if taken unnecessarily, may have considerable side effects.

I want to be enlightened as  to what good effect Ofloxacin may have on gastrointestinal (amoebic) infections.

Regards,

Ofloxacin (and other fluoroquinones) are often used in gastrointestinal infections, since they reach high concentrations in stool.
