What Happened to my period?

I recently had surgery (ileo-colic resection) about a month ago. The day I went into surgery was the last day of my cycle. 1 month went by and I still have not received my period. I took a pregnancy test and it came back negative...I was wondering if it is normal to skip a cycle after major surgery?

I think so.  Surgery pretty much goofs up the entire abdomen.  It kind of shocks everything in there.  Usually people will get constipated real bad for example, the digestive tract just shuts down.  But if you don't get back to normal soon, visit your gyn doc, she'll know for sure what's going on.  I got in a car wreck when mine was due, and it took a week for it to finally come, because I had gone thru such a tumultuous event.
