What Now?

by hfleuter, Sep 08, 2008 04:28PM
I am a 42year old female. I have had my galbladder out, a hiatal hernia repair and a sphincterotomy done.

I am again getting very bad upset stomach and pain in my upper right stomach under my rib cage.

I did have a pancreas attach about a year or so ago and that's why the sphincterotomy was done.

Could I have permanent damage to my pancreas from this which is now causing my pain?

Or could it be my liver? They did find a small "node" on my liver but they said it shouldn't cause any pain.

Thanks

If you had pancreatitis and the sphincter leading into the duodenum from the bile duct and pancreatic duct was cut, you should probably contact your doc to have both your liver and pancreatic enzyme levels checked out as soon as possible. The pain in the URQ could be related to continuing problems in the biliary tract or at the pancreas. The only way to tell is to have some testing done..

Pancreatitis, if it continues, can damage the pancreas and lead to permanent damage. But one attack shouldn't be devastating to the pancreas, although it will leave some damage.
