What are the symtoms for intestinal and stomach cancer

by jamie__0__0, Jan 10, 1999 12:00AM

Hi.  My dad is 58 years old and has had parkinson's disease for the last 8 years.  He has had stomach problems for the last 2 years.  His Doctors were saying it is related to his parkinson medicine.  However, now he is experiencing increased blood pressure, high cholestrol, extreme bloating in abdomen, his face and extremities look swollen and his face looks red. He always feels like he has gas.  He recently went to the ER and they ruled out heart disease.  He is going to see a GI doctor in the next few weeks.  Are these symtoms signs of some type of intestinal cancer or stomach cancer?  I know it is hard to diagnois over a computer but i am really worried about my dad.

Dear Jamie,
Gastric or intestinal cancwer can present in amny different ways.  Abdominal pain can be one symptom but it is often associated with other problems such as weight loss, early satiety (eat a few bites and then loose appetitie), bleeding.  Most people with gas pains do not have cancer as the cause for the symptoms.  the only way, however, to exclude cancer, is to have an evaluation by a trained gastroenterologist.
