My mother was recently diagnosed with diverticulosis and they told her to avoid nuts and seeds most of all. I know she was also avoiding raw vegetables like lettuce and broccoli for awhile, but I'm not sure whether that was self-imposed or not. She's back on salads now and seems to be ok with it.

After several months of pain on my lower left side, which seemed to creep up on my, I was diagnosed with Diverticulitis. At first, at the ER they thought I had a kidney stone, then after CT Scan, was told it was Divers. I went through 4 rounds of antibiotics, in which after 1 week of completing a round, I was in pain again, it was decided I must have my colon re-sectioned. Doctors went in, removed 18 inches of my colon, at which time my spleen ruptured, and I spent 11 days in the hospital. My surgeon told me I would be fine and could resume normal eating habits, I would be fine since all the diseased portion was gone, it wouldn't return. This was December 1999. After having that old familiar and severe pain for 2 weeks, I went back in today. I have to have another CT Scan tomorrow, and then probably a colonoscopy. My Doctor is blown away, and telling me it is very rare for Divers to come back. Anyone know of this happening? I think I would rather live on liquids forever than go through what I went through in 1999. My email is ***@****
Thanks,
Judy
