What is Pylorus with Granular Change of Gastric Mucosa?

I got an endoscopy done this morning.  One of the findings was that there was a mild deformity of pylorus with some granular change of gastric mucosa but with no active inflammation.  Few gastric biopsies were taken for histological evaluation.  Does anybody know what a granular change of gastric mucosa mean?  Does that mean I have tumors in my stomach?

SC, when this is found in the pyloric area (the lower portion of the stomach near the muscular opening (sphincter) to the duodenum, it can be described as something that is going on due to inflammation. It's possible that it could be due to an H. pylori 'infection,' or due to to something like too much acid production. However, it should be investigated further. If you had an endoscopy done, hopefully they took biopsies and can look for the cause of the inflammation, since there can also be processes going on under the surface of the tissue that may be playing into the condition.

It may or may not mean that something more serious than gastritis is on-going. You'll need to wait for the pathology results from the biopsy to figure out what may be going on.
