If you had an endoscopy done, hopefully they took biopsies and can look for the cause of the inflammation, since there can also be processes going on under the surface of the tissue that may be playing into the condition.
It may or may not mean that something more serious than gastritis is on-going. You'll need to wait for the pathology results from the biopsy to figure out what may be going on.
