I am scheduled to have a HIDA Scan Sept 2,008 does the camera coverjust the abdomen or is it over more of the body? I have been diagnosed with Gallstones
and sludge and told that my gallbladder must be removed already; and, so why else would I have a HIDA scan ordered? Also, one surgeon wants me to be evaluated for insertion of a "gastric
bile duct. They use the HIDA scan to verify that the gallbladder is 'sluggish.'
A gastric pacemaker isn't used for a sluggish gallbladder. It's used to try to speed up emptying from the stomach. They're kind of like heart pacemakers - trying to keep the organ functionng properly. The gastric pacemakers help some people, not all. And some with gastric pacemakers need to continue to take medication to help their 'sluggish' stomach move food though.
