What is h pylori

What is h pylori

I am confused as to what exactly H Pylori is?  My physician called today and said my bloodwork tested positive for
h pylori and now she wants me to have an h pylori "breath" test done.  I was just diagnosed with reflux, could there be a connection between them?   If the "breath" test comes back negative does that mean I don't have h pylori?  Thank you for your help!

H. pylori is a bacteria that colonizes the stomach and is known to be implicated in gastritis and reflux. If the breath test comes back positive, you need to have the H. pylori treated. You'll still have to be treated for the gastritis, but getting rid of the H. pylori is the best way to start.
