What is really going on?

My husband has just had a foot of his colon removed due to sigmoid diverticulitis that absessed over the course of a week from the time he had been in the hospital before(and on a full range of antibiotics and fiber). The surgery was an emergency one and though supposed to take only 1-1 1/2 hours, took almost 4. For the last 2 weeks he has been on potassium, ciro, flagyn, and almost everything else, but is still having issues. Even though he just had the surgery monday, and was up walking that night, his fever isn't constistantly staying down, nor are his O2 levels where they need to be. He finally had a bowel movement yesterday, and now today, his urnine is the shade of dark dark tea. They started him on a liquid diet today as well, which he vomited up 3 times throughout the day. He now has to have anti nausea meds by iv and they are talking about placing a gi tube down him. So considering I am not really getting any answers from the doctors, what am I up against here?

Dark tea colored urine could be a sign of several issues, one of which could be the presence of bilirubin. However, a dark color can also indicate problems with the kidneys.
