My husband had a laprascopic appendectomy on Jan 12. His appendics did not burst, so therefore surgery went fine. He came home from the hospital the next day. He could eat and drink anything he wanted, was having regular bowel movements and we thought he was on the way to a full recovery. About 3-4 days after surgery, he began to have a burning sensation on his lower left abdomen. We returned to the doctor one week later and the doctor stated this was normal and would soon pass, -- was part of the healing process. Try taking ibuprofen. It has now been almost two weeks since his surgery and the burning pain is getting worse. So bad, he can hardly walk, can only stand for a few minutes at a time, and is pretty much just laying down because that is the only time it doesnt hurt. He is not running a fever, his "privates" are fine, no numbness or tingling, -- just the burning sensation. He stated it feels like a piece of raw skin on the inside. If this doesnt get better this week sometime, of course we will again call the doctor. I am just trying to get another opinion. I thought with appendic surgery, he would at least be walking around, driving, and trying to recover. All he can do now is lay in the bed or stretched out in a recliner because of the pain. He is ready to go nuts because of the pain. Please advise.
