What is the normal reading for ALT

by lanesra13, Feb 12, 2009 04:42AM
Dear Dr.
I have been attending the liver clinic at my local hospital for several years  for a liver malfunction.in December my ALT reading was 200 but when i attended a few days ago it had gone down to 40. What is the normal reading for ALT and does this latest result mean that I no longer have a liver malfunction?

This discussion is related to High AST, ALT, FERRITIN, IRON Levels.

I'm not a doctor and know very little about this stuff.  I'm not certain about this so you may want to call your local lab but I was told the following:
Alk phos should range from 20 to 60
GGT should range from 20 to 60
ALT should range from 10 to 60
AST should range from 15 to 40

You can also go to Lab Tests Online at http://www.labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/cbc/glance.html and check your results.

Good luck and Godspeed,

Sam
