What should I be doing after removing my gallblader

by MaggieMay, Jul 25, 2002 12:00AM
I would like to know what are the normal things that I should be feeling, and where does the stuff go that went to my gallbalder go now. I take thyroid medicing once a day which I have done so for 20+ years, will this make another problem down the line. I lost weight and this is what they say caused the stones, but I have gained alittle back, how do I prevent from gaining alot again. I have noticed changes in my body since operation, eating, going to bathroom, and joint aches. Please advise me if you can. Thank you for your time.

Hi Margaret,
I had my gallbladder removed in 2000.The only thing that I have found that is different and annoying is the fact that I get sour stomach frequently. I went to my doctor about this and he explained to me that now that my gall bladder is gone it takes loger for the food to be pushed out of the stomach. He said the longer the food stays in the stomach can cause sour soach and/or nausea. He gave me a prescription for Prvacid( I think that is what it was ) and it helped.Take one before each meal or when symptoms occur.Hope this help..
