I was diagnosed with NASH (Feb 2002) after a biopsy. My doctor told me to read the book, Eat, Drink and be Healthy by Walter Willett. In the book he talks about good fats and bad fats. After reading the book I eliminated all hydrogenated fats from my diet. I have less URQ pain and was able to lose 25 pounds very easily.
What is NASH? I am finding so much help on this board. I am 30 years old, have GERD, hiatalHiatal hernia Hiatal hernia - x-ray Hiatal hernia repair Hiatal hernia repair - series hernia and had my gallbladder out in April 2002. For the past 2 months, I have had constant pain in my RUQ. I have had x-rays, CT-Scan where I drank a solution called Gastroview, and had extensive blood work done. Nothing shows up. Liver functions are ok, nothing raises a red flag. I am just tired of the pain in my right side and I have also had constant nausea in my stomach. I am at my wits end. I am glad that nothing shows up on the tests, but on the same token, I want to know what is causing my pain. It also hurts in my back too.
NASH is Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis. It means you have fattyXanthoma infiltration of the liver with inflammation. Inflamation (inflammation) would show up on a blood test as elevated liver enzymes.
I promise you, if you cutCuts and puncture wounds out all hydrogenated oils and partially hydrogenated oils from your diet, you will have less pain in the area under your right ribcage. Read the package labels. It is in almost every thing you eat. Crackers, chips, french fries cooked at the fast food places, etc.
I feel so much better since I got off the Standard American Diet (SADDepression).
I have been reading a lot on that. I will definately look into eliminating that from my diet. I am also eliminating lactose. I wonder if there will be anything worth eating...LOL. Thanks for the suggestion.
