my son underwent a whipple procedure in dec 2006 at the age of 8. He did not have a tumour but the prcedure was preformed as the result of a car accident. He lost the head
. He returned to fulltime education after 6 months and is doing great.
We now have yearly hospital appointments and several ultasounds to check on all his organs. As the docs explained to me the procedure is rare on a young child so there is not much info for the long term, but his prognosis is good
My son had a whipple on Nov. 25,2008 he did have a cancerous tumor on the head of his pancreas. It was a hard road for him but now 7 months later he is doing great. You are getting this long after the fact but I hope all is well.
