Why don't the PPIs work?

Why don't the PPIs work?

Hi. I wondered if anyone can help me? I was living in Germany when in April 09 I felt a lump in my throat. I had an endoscopy and it showed a small hiatus hernia, chronic gastritis and reflux esophagitis. Things got so bad with my throat that i returned home in December. Now I don't feel a lump just lots of phlegm which is real because I can taste it and sometimes swallow it :-( I have been on several PPI's since June 09 (40mg, even tried 80mg for 10 days), I was on Nexium for the longest time, and my throat didn't improve. The Gastroenterlogists (seen 3, 1 in Germany and 2 here in the UK) say I can't have acid reflux because the PPI would have worked. The doctors in England are saying that I have Globus, but from what I've read acid reflux is one of the causes of Globus! I'm on the waiting list here to have an endoscopy and also a ph acid test. Does anyone know why PPI's dont work for acid reflux? I've heard of non-acid reflux, could I have this? I'm also seeing an ENT doctor next week.
