Will my leak heal?

This is a colorectal leak which has had a drain and diversion for over 3 months.  Being watched by imaging studies which are looking good I am told and drain stopped draining. I am doing fine except for the extra stuff on me. Can I be sure it will heal? How long the wait?

Hi vicki - you don't say why you had the leak/drain? If it is fistulising Crohn's then perhaps Infliximab (remicade) may be the answer.

I have a rectal fistula - I have Crohn's - had it for so long it is just part of me - gastro won't operate as he says the problem will only be exacerbated. I just get friends in the US to send me Haynes  cotton panties and boil them with bleach to get the stains out. Oooh, sorry to be so graphic. Your problem is obviously much worse than mine. Hope it heals soon.
