Will this ever go away?

by redhat, Dec 07, 2008 10:24PM
I've had diarrhea (C diff)  for over a year.  I got it in the hospital when I broke my femur and had 2 back surgeries.  I asked the Dr. where the heck this came from and he said the hospital.  My gosh - this has become an expensive "problem" and is driving me nuts.  The Dr. has had me on all of the meds mentioned in the letters here.  I do fine for a while and can make it to the bathroom and handle it.  Then BOOM - I get a fever and don't think straight and end up back in the hospital.  My kids dont want me to be around my grandchildren (I understand) but this is getting mighty OLD!  There must be something to clear this up!  If I knew of a "healer" I'd give it a shot.

I heard about this new procedure the other day It sounds gross but it is true. It is a fecal transplant. They actually take a sample of stool from someone you live with and put it in you so that the good bacteria will be back to itself. see if your doctor has heard about it.

Redhat, did you go through treatment using vancomycin? Are you working with an infectious disease doc? In cases that are hard to get rid of one the the better courses of action is to use an ID specialist.
