Worried again

Well after going to the doctor for upper stomach pain I had a few times that lasted for a few days they decided to send me for that test where they go down into your tummy.  The doc. originally told me it would probably be Nov. till I could get in but they called me today and wanted me to go tomorrow.  Well that is way to short notice and now they are freaking me out for wanting me to go so soon.  To me that's them thinking I need to be seen right away.  The doc. told me she THOUGHT I could have ulcers or acid reflux and gave me a medication.  I haven't had any of that pain in like 3 weeks now not to say I won't get it again or that its the meds. working cause I actually didnt' have it for like a week before even going to the doc.  Anyways I go July 10th for this darn test.  But this is gonna freak out till it's all said and done.  AND why are they getting me in so quick IF the doc. only thinks it's acid reflux or ulcers?

I'm one of those kind that don't really believe in unneccessary testing.   I'm not really understanding why my doc. would pursue having the endoscopy done when I'm not having the pain anymore.  I haven't had the pain in 3 weeks now.  If the pain was from ulcers or anything that needed attention wouldn't the pain be a little more consistent then this?    From my research it looks like things can also be detected by blood work and stuff even the H. Pylori.   So considering I haven't been having any pain shouldn't that be the first step before doing in for the endoscopy??    Yes I guess you can say I"m trying to get out of it.....LOL  But I would think any type of "illness" would bring about symptoms much more consistently.   Any ideas??

I am very worried for my mum.  She suffers from gastric pain alot.  Has been having these pains for the last 8 years.  She has no gallbladder.  This was removed 19 years ago due to stones.

SHe had 4 gastroscopis, each one showing no cause for concern.  Only inflammation due to H Pylori virus, which was eventually cured with triple treatment.

Lately, the pains have become more frequent, almost 4 times weekly, and I am very worried for her.  Bile duct reflux has been cited as a possible cause, but no doctor has ever, hit the nail spot on, and really determined the root of the problem.  She usually has to vomit to relief the pain.   Lately, she noticed that when she is feeling constipated, the pain is more likely to occur.  Strangely, the pain never occurs while sleeping.  Anyone has any suggestions or recommendations pls?  My email is ***@****

With my father it was certain things he ate like Chocolate, spicy foods and citrus fruit.   The doctor gave him list of what not eat.

I had upper stomach pain just recently and it would come and go so my doctor thought it was gallstones so I got a MRI.  Found out I had high cholesterol and it was causing my liver to go crazy and have pain.   So I can't eat fatty foods but I never did in the first place mine is hereditary.

It don't sound like acid reflux to me.  Atleast from how others describe it.  I just think it's strange that I haven't had any pain or anything now for like 3 weeks.  I guess it is good they wanna do the test cause I guess ulcers and things like that should not be left untreated but I guess they could of just treated me anyways and if it worked then theyd' know.

They take all precaution so just be thankful they care and want to cover everything even if it means alot of tests.  With my father they found that by accident.   The doctor at first didn't think it was necessary but he changed his mind.

I actually work with a girl that was "diagnosed" and being treated for acid reflux but she never had to have that test.  I guess that's why it bothers me.  I'm  not sure if they ever thought she could have ulcers or anything but they did say this test other than the upper GI is the only way to check for ulcers.  I asked about the upper GI then the doc. said typically you end up having to have this other test done anyways plus that's the only way to check for that H. Pylori

They are probably thinking that they don't want you to suffer with pain for long.   Acid reflux is something you want to take care right away only because the acid shoot up into your throat and can damage the lining of your digestive tract.   My father had for a very long time and finally went to the doctor and it left lesions all down his throat.  I am not a doctor or anything but you wouldn't want to wait till November that would be painful.

Look at me, I am waiting for a MRI to find out if I have gallstones and i can't get an answer from my doctor.

Just don't worry and ask alot of questions when you see the specialist.
