Would meds help or hinder?

I think I read in one of these posts about a month ago that the doc can give you meds for the loose bowels that result from having one's gallbladder removed.  Is this true?  If it is, would it help to have said meds, or would it hinder the body's recovery in trying to readjust to life minus gallbladder?  I've had constipation for...well about a year.  Most of you know I had my gb removed Nov.14 (already seems like it's been forever and it's only two weeks!), but now I am experiencing the dreaded loose bowels.  This, amazingly, is what I feared most.  I am going to cosmetology school, and do not want to have to excuse myself from a client to run to the rest room.  At this point it seems that anything I eat doesn't stay in my system for more than 30-45 minutes.  Any suggestions before I call and ask the doc?

Some doctors have found that putting their post-gallbladder surgery patients on a statin (cholesterol) drug like Questran will help with bile salt diarrhea.  You'd have to ask your doctor if that would be a useful medication for you.  An over-the-counter remedy that might help is caltrate.  Apparently the increased calcium helps firm things up, but you don't want to take it if you have any kidney issues.  Have you tried Immodium yet?  Sometimes that's all you need for a while and it's also available OTC.

Have not yet tried the immodium, though I'm sure that'll work.  Just wasn't sure if I started using the immodium that maybe it would screw up my body getting used to the way things'll be from now on.  Don't want to end up buying stock in immodium, ya know?   lol
