YEAST OVERGROWTH IN COLON?????

YEAST OVERGROWTH IN COLON?????

Okay, since noone has answered my last post, I will make another, more detailed and will tell you about my research and maybe this will spark interest in our Doctor Buddies here @ medhelp.
I have what is called "playdoh poop" sorry folks...any ways, it is rarely hard and dry, it's always, well as I have described. NOT classic constipation, but what seems to be WEAK PERISTALTIC ACTION. I am 31 years old, female and I am careful with my diet, ensuring that I have adequate intake of both soluable and insoluable fibre, and I drink up to 3L of water a day. I don't eat any wheat or dairy...and I am thinking of cutting out sugar as well.I have been through the gammit of blood testing, but my doctor refuses to send me to a GI telling my that my symptoms are not enough to warrant a referal to one. My liver is fine, according to the  blood tests I haven't celiac disease, thyroid is fine, etc...
Perhaps when I had an abcessed tooth (since removed) 2 years ago and was talking a TON of antibiotics, it may be an overgrowth of yeast in my intestines?
What about the dermatitis I have on my left hand...and only my left hand? Isn't that a sign of gluten intolerance? The dermatitis resembles Dermatitis Herpetaformia, but my quack dr will not say what type it is (he doesn't know) and prescribes Dipersalic ointment. It seems to me that the tiny mucolcele on my lip (mucosa) and the Dermatitis are symptoms...what do you think DOCTORS??

If you believe a gluten-free diet would be of benefit, then I would suggest you start one and see what happens. Or if you want to be tested more thoroughly than is typically done with the blood test - which is unreliable, IMO - go to enterolab.com and order the fecal antibody test for gluten, and team it with the allele (gene) test and a test for cross-reactivity to casein (the major protein in diary - a problem with a number of celiacs).

Docs can be 'unknowing' at times, and if that happens test things out for yourself.

As for the yeast, I'm not sure. There is a stool test that can be done to determing if you've got certain species present, and you might want to consider that.

You could also start some probiotics to cover the possibility that the antibiotics skewed your bacterial type and count in your GI system. There are a number of good brands on the market that are effective. Some include Culturelle, Digestive Advantage-IBS and FloraQ. You'll get high counts in the capsules than you will in the 'yogurt' variety.

The weak peristaltic action is probably the result of your fecal material not bulking up. Stronger peristalsis is typically the result of a bulkier stool. If the stool is soft/mushy it feels as if it's more difficult to move it through the system.

Only you know what your relation with your dr is, but personally, I would get a new primary care dr.  Any dr who will not do a referral, 2 actually as you should see a dermitoligist also, is not the dr I want treating me.  The only reason that I could see for a dr not giving you a referral when you ask is money.

I don;t understand the money angle really. I am in canada and I would assume he makes money weith referals. I am seeing a different doctor April 17...she assures my mother who is a patient of this new Dr that I will get the tests I need to ease my mind at the very least, that I dont have colon cancer. Frankly that's what I worry about the most. 2 years with this on/off constipation, and thin, pencil like stools that are getting narrower...no bleeding, but Im sure that comes much later...sometimes there is a period of time where everything seems fine, and the diameter of ...things seems normal, i can set my watch to the regularity, and then bam, back to this worry and constipation.

Okay, so as you know I am experiencing some problems with weak peritstaltic action or what, i don't know anymore. I have been at this problem for a good two years now, and it all started after a series of antibiotics (I had seven infections consecutively in the abcessed tooth @ that time. One time it turned into a "superbug") ever since the antibiotics (and a trip to Mexico~got sick there) two years ago, I became constipated and did not have a BM for 12 days. Its not gotten that bead, and there is rarely a day when at least a little something isnt produced, but it's alot less than what feels like needs to be expelled.I have changed my diet, drink more water, take acidophilius, digestive enzymes, mineral oil etc EVERY DAY...still my bowels have been moving poorly...HOWEVER>>>>
Today i gave myself an enema. It is not something I do very often, even tho I am "constipated" often by which I mean the stool is soft, like playdough, but i have to strain to have a movement. I am confused because I at some "marker" food yesterday. And after I completed the enema and evacuated...well there it was. What the hell is going on? Why am i having this problem, when transit time seems very normal???? IS THIS A SIGN OF A GROWTH IN MY COLON, PLEASE ANSWER ASAP!?!?!?

Dear carybear, I really understand your frustration to your doctors (in)competence. As you might have realized, western doctors usually treat the symptoms of your discomfort instead of the actual problem. So here is my solution, as mentioned by others probiotics is very important to intake after heavy doses of antibiotics. Antibiotics destroys cell walls and if taken too much you could end up with holes in your intestins, IBS and chrons disease.
So first, keep taking your probiotics and switch to prebiotics later. Get a hold of an herb called Ulmus Rubra (slippery elm), this will help you significantly with your bowls. 1 ts for diarreha, 1tbs for constipation and 1 child s for regulating. The reason your bowels are sticky is mainly because of the colon inability to absorb water from the digested foods. Slow down on the fiber, because high fiber diets makes the intestins work too hard and you don´t want that. And of course as you said, CUT out all sugars. If you have a yeast infection like candida albicans, sugar will help it grow. Candida loves sugars and refined foods, coffee and alcohol. Also start taking all the vitamin B complex and vitamin A. If you have heavy metals in your body such as amalgam, candida will also consume these. Remove fillings if you have it and start taking low amounts of chlorella to absorbe the heavy metals. Hope this helps

Thanks alot for your reply. I don't think removing my fillings would help. they are porcelain, not "silver" metal fillings. You understand I have not taken antibiotics for 2 or more years? I do not drink tap water, and havent in 20 years, and  I am strenuous about this, so the heavy metal suggestion is null. I don't even bathe in unflitered water. and when I got sick in MX it was not because I'd drank unfiltered/bottled water. I didn't even leave the resort. So it can't be a parasite. WHAT I am saying is,it's a growth in my colon and I think I have cancer. The weight loss, the fatigue...yes there was at one time some upper GI bleeding, (very black stools) but not for a year. I am here because my doctor is both away and incompetent. I see an new one April 17th but I want to have some solid proof based theories about what I perceive to be wrong. It would be nice if a Doctor here at medhelp would respond.

appended:SOME REASONING...if I am not passing sufficient amounts of waste...and it has been thin and pencil shaped most lately, but transit time seems normal~i saw the markers when I did the enema~it stands to reason there is a blockage and stuff is going around it. My bowels are working but there is an obstruction. Does this make sense? I was FINE last month and the month before, until I started to eat bread again...could this be the cause, if I indeed have a blockage like I have theorized? Can someone give me an educated guess? please please please. I am losing weight so fast, because nothing I eat comes out the other end, I am 5'9" and 105 lbs. Could it be CANCER? Doctor if you're around, Please help.

I understand, however if your new doctor suggests chrons or cancer he will put you through hell to fix it and as i Biopath I strongly suggest otherwise. Diseases do not appear by themselves, its a dysbiosis of your body´s own ability to regenerate. It seems that you have taken good care of yourself the last years with what you express in the last comment, however you are still sick of course. I had a colleague once who suffered from chrons and he was also very tired, always throwing up and very skinny. Anyway, if you have cancer which I hope not, you should go back to mexico where they help cancer patients naturally. I´m not gonna tell you about the political views about western medicine and eastern natural medicine. Its something everyone should find out about themselves as  it is very scary reading. I wish you well and hope your new doctor is competent and listens to you.

Very important - don't start a gluten-free diet before getting tested for celiac disease.
There are some easy blood tests you can do for gluten antibodies (IgA, IgG, etc.). Do those first before you stop eating gluten, because these tests will become negative once you stop eating gluten and it will be hard to tell whether you have celiac or not.

As my very first post in this thread mentions, I have had the tests you are refering to.AS far as my doctor has said, I don't have celiac but I am going to ask the new dr to test again. Everything, again.
