for YEARS I have had almost constant pain on my right side. had my gallbladder out a few years ago (doctor's comment - "very diseased") had a normal colonoscopy with a diagnosis of spastic colin coupla months ago.
Pain feels similar to bruising aching pain, not sharp or throbbing etc. The area is around the short ribs
from the spine (tender area) straight through the abdomen and around the side. Kind of a lateral slice like a rack of lamb. Sometimes that side of the abdomen looks swollen
past the rib and go up under inside. Sometimes it feels tender in the pelvic area and between the hip bone and belly button. My mound area seems...puffy. But the right side is pretty much constant. I don't think it ever goes away. I think I just get to where I don't notice it all the time because it's always there. Sometimes it seems a bowel movement relieves it. Sometimes it seems my body is torqued and straightening and lengenthing my torso is some relief, but not total. I sometimes think the good kick in the ribs many many years ago in karate class might have something to do with it, but it's been hurting for years.
Hi,
for almost 3 years now I felt the same as you. But I also cannot keep food in. I lost over 70 pounds in 1 year and right now Iam living of Ensure....It all started after my Gallbladder was removed....
I had 8 ERCP's done because I was dignosed with Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. stents, Balloons, Botex Injections, cutting the Sphincter....nothing worked.
During the ERCP doc diagnosed me with Pancreatic Divisum.
Than a surgeon got involved and I had 4 weeks ago a Transduodenal sphincterotomy with a pancreatic minor duct Sphincteroplasty.
8 days hospital, it was an aweful surgery.
My constant pain is gone. Now I have sort of 3x daily and at night attacks which feel like the old pain. I still cannot eat.
I have to see my surgeon on April 27 for a follow up.
They told me if this surgery did not work that they have to do a Roux en Y surgery. Not sure how bad of a surgery that is but seems bad because the doctors do not want to this very easily....
Have you been checked out for the sphincter of Oddi dysfunction ?
It maybe worth it checking the sphincter out.
At least you know you are not alone
