Chances are your current asthma is caused by acid refluxing into your lungs. If you're not on medication, ask your doctor about it now. Additionally, start working to lose that weight: increased weight means more pressure on the LES, increasing your acid reflux.

Try tilting the head of your bed 8 to 12 inches up using bricks or risers (not pillows, unless it's a wedge pillow). This will help your night time breathing.

Finally, seek medical help immediately. Acid in your lungs can lead to conditions such as COPD.

Good luck.
