You say it has been 5 years since your last scope. When was your last visit with the doc who is prescribing the nexiumNexium Nexium i.v.? Have you told the doc about your worsening symptoms? It's obvious the medication isn't helping you much, so you really need a good sit-down, faceFace pain-to-face doc visit.
Even though the nexium doesn't appear to work as well as it should, keep taking it. Since you're still refluxing badly, the medication will still help keep the acid level down and prevent even worse damage to your esophogus.
Hello, when you see another doctor try taking Protonix. One of my doctor's patients swear by it. Even though he gave it to me thinking my cough was caused by Acid Reflux,(not). I have a thread as well hoping for answers to my recovery. You have to keep going. I also had two Bravo Ph done which told me that I did not have Acid Reflux but because they don't know what is causing my chronic cough they put me on an Acid Reflux drug. Good luck and do some research before going to the doctor. Sometime YOU HAVE TO tell a doctor what to look for or prescribe. I have because they have told me they don't know what to do. And these are UCLA, Cedar Sinai. Good luck
In the meantime, are you still trying to eat the usual "three square" meals a day? Many people with reflux have to eat smaller meals 4 or 5 times a day, and make sure you allow a good 3 hours from your last meal until you go to bed. Avoid the typical acid-producing foods like citrus fruits and tomatoes, or at least try not to eat so many of these foods. Coffee, tea and carbonated beverages should also be restricted. I know it's a pain, but you may be surprised at the results.
