You need to see a Gastroenterologist regarding this. Acid is backing up in your esophagus and left untreated it will erode your esophagus! Stopping this now is imperative. It is about diet, not eating before going to bed, and keeping the head of your bed raised so that acid stays down at night. Have you actually been diagnosed with GERD? See a doctor, there are good treatments for this if diet alone doesn't help. Good luck and take care.

Tums and acid reducing supplements aren't always enough to treat acid reflux. It's more about a healthy diet and lifestyle. Reduce heavy, fatty or spicy meals. Don't drink sodas or consume too many citrus fruits like oranges, tomatoes, lemons or limes. Try stick to whole foods like oats, eggs, lean meats or vegetarian protein, and limit late-night snacking which can trigger acid reflux when you lay down.
Stick to this and you'll feel so much better.
All the best.
