advise needed on gallbladder surgery

I am scheduled for surgery in 3 weeks but have recently started a naturopathic route for removing my stone. ( I only have one stone about 1cm but it causes pain 6 out of 7 days a week). If I postpose my surgery it may take months to get it rescheduled, but 3 weeks is not long enough to get the full benifit from the naturopathic route. Also my surgeon will not order another ultrasound as she strongly believes nothing will work to removing the stone naturally. I would have to rely on the lack of pain as a sign the gallstone has been passed (or not bothering me for now). The naturopath is confident it will work but has no way of proving its effectiveness.

Does anyone know of evidence that the naturopathic route will be effective in removing my gallstone? Thoughts and suggestions are welcomed!!!

My gallbladder has just started give me symptoms again after 4 years, I've always watched my diet & greasy foods just make my stomach roll, but I can tell you, my grandmother, mother, 2 aunts, 1 uncle, sister & 2 cousins (seems this runs in our family) have had theirs out with no complications.  In fact my friends grandmother who is 92 just had her's out  in Jan 07 & is doing great, no complications.  So, I guess it just depends on the GB current condition.  I tell you, I'm not going to wait, I've gone with 2 nights in pain, I just pace & wait for it to be over, today I ache.

Yes they are bad complications that a small % can get. I am going to check around for a tonic of some sort that I've heard about. One web site calls it a gall bladder repair kit but can't remeber which. I feel fine today but dread it coming back and still have to see the surgeon monday and make a decision. stay in touch

That is aweful having to be in so much pain. I hear that medication works. Unfortunately I am unable to take it. I asked my Dr. today what the risk of complications like the ones posted for surgery and he told he has seen about 1000 patients had gallbladder removed and maybe 10 had complications. There is a risk but it sounds low. On the otherside I wonder if there is anything else that can be done as it sounds the complications are worse than the gallstones!

I am in just about the same situation. I was in the ER today again for gall bladder disease and was worse than ever. They gave me a big pain shot and fluids and after several hours of extreme pain I left with a Rx for percocette 7.5 and phenagen for nausia. I don't want sugery either as I've heard some don't do so well afterwards but most do.  Another thread here discusses post op gall bladder problems but hasn't been active for a few days. A few nurses and the doc told me about their own experiences and they were all favorable except for one person who will get diareaha after fatty foods, The doc also said that some of these natural remidies may work. I have  2 or more stone so don't know if it would work for me but it sounds promising. all the best
