aeromonas caviae

by skimmer60, Jun 08, 2009 01:50PM
I recently had a stool analysis test, ordered by a natrualpath, which revealed aeromonas caviae as a pathogen, and told me to take 21 days ofLevaquin, 500 mg 2 x daily.  My internal Dr. and GI Dr. said aeromonas caviae is not a pathogen, and the test was "hocus pocus."  I do not know whom to believe.  I took 7 days of Levaquin and did feel better.  Now my liver enzymes are slightly elevated, and I'm not sure if it is the Levaquin, or the bacteria causing the elevation, and is areomonas a pathogen or not?

I would trust your internist and your GI doctor.  21 days of Levaquin 500mg 2 x a day is a lot. Enzymes elevation is usually due to injury to the liver, which the Levaquin may have done.  I don't know, but would seek medical attention regarding the liver enzymes.

Thank you for the reply.  It is good to hear from someone.  I didn't know what to think.  I did follow up and the ultrasound of liver was ok, and I repeat the blood tests in a few weeks.  Thank you so much for the reply.
