Basically to my knowledge it will start with a tightening of the skin.. the tops of the handsHand or foot spasms Hand tremor, foreamrs and other area's get shiney from the skin.. its a systematic disease meaning it attacks many of the bodies organs etc... for instance, it causes the eyes to get very dry and not produce tears.. this is called Sjorgens (sp) syndrom (syndrome).. that is one of the signs of scleroderma.. very dry eyes, also fingers will start to bend due to the tight skin.. other organs affected such as kidneys, heart, lungs, and also the mouth, alot of dental problems...due to lack of saliva.. dry mouth. this is a RARE disorder and it varies from person to person, but it basically is progressive... non curable. Interesting your Grandmother at 81 being diagnosed.. It is usually diagnosed earlier in life.
