amylace & lipase elevated levels

amylace & lipase elevated levels

Could you tell me what a normal amylace & lipase level would be. My Dr. is concerned because I had some upper & left side pain in my stomach and had blood work done  & found these levels to be elevated. the amylace level is at 135 (he is saying that it should be between 28-100) and the lipase is at 90( should be between 16-63) . By reading othe blogs..I don't even see any levels anywhere near these. Please let me know if he is correct?

Normal levels can vary slightly from one laboratory to another. But a normal amylase value is typically 30-100 U/liter in adults. Values for lipase can be about 10-140 U/liter. But again, keep in mind your levels are being measured against the 'normal' levels for the type of testing equipment used at that specific laboratory. I'd tend to accept your doc's statement as valid. Get a copy of the written report of your test. It should give you - in writing - what those values are.
