antibiotic therapy

by annmich, Sep 24, 2001 12:00AM
my aunt (age 82) has been in the hosp for appox. 1 wk. she came into the hosp. with stomach and back pain.  she was put on zosyn and metronidazole.  she now suffers from severe nausea and has not been able to eat (no appetite) for the last 5-6 days and is growing weaker by the moment.  She had an endosopy and that turned up negative.  they also have done an x-ray and cat-scan of abdomen. I have asked that she be tested for h pylori. what other things could be causing the nausea? she did not have the nausea when she 1st came into the shop. she has no appetite whatsoever. HELP??

thanks

I once was prescribed metronidazole and it made me so nauseous I had to stop taking it. I wouldn't doubt that's the culprit.

Hope your aunt feels better soon.
