My 15 yr old just had an appendectomyAppendectomy Appendectomy - series. He started with lower right abd pain and vomiting and feverAllergic rhinitis Coccidioidomycosis Febrile seizures Fever Fever blister Fever blisters and canker sores Herpes labialis (oral herpes simplex) Histoplasmosis Malaria Rheumatic fever Scarlet fever. I took him to Children's hospital. They did a CT with no contrast. Said it was normalNormal saline flush and sent us home. He continued to be sick and on the 3rd day I took him to our local community hospital, not back to children's. Same symptoms. They received the faxed report from children's and could not believe that they did not remove his appendixAppendectomy. The report basically said he had mesentericMesenteric arteriography Mesenteric artery ischemia adenitis and appencicoliths, but the appendixAppendectomy itself did not appear inflamed. We were referred to surgeon who also felt the appendix should be removed, but did tell us it may be normal upon removal, but being that he was very tender at rlq and fever and vomiting we should proceed with removal. While waiting for surgery a pediatrician who was consulted, not ours, said people have stones in there appendix and is normal. He should not proceed with procedure until thoroughlly examined by surgeon who had not seen him yet, just ER doc, the surgeon's PA and this pediatrician. The PA even said he did not have all of the classic symptoms of Appendicitis, but stones are present and it should come out. Surgeon felt we should proceed after exam, pretty much to be on safe side. Appendix was not inflamed or remarkable. Did not think it was the problem in the end. Will pathology reveal something different? My son felt so much better after surgery. All symptoms disappeared immediately. I am so confused.
