I had appendicitis when I was 8 years old, which was about 8 years ago. It doesn't take very long at all for a doctor to diagnose appendicitis, but just make sure that you go directly to a Children's hospital. When I had it, I was home sick for two days, then I went to a small clinic where they were pretty sure I had it, then I went to Baylor where they did a sonogram which confirmed that I had appendicitis. Then, Baylor decided that I was too small, and they sent me to Children's hospital where the operation took place. By that time, my appendix had already ruptured and was leaking out into my abdomen; if we had waited any longer, I could have possibly died. Just make sure you get your child to a children's hospital so you don't have to go through the hassle of going to 3 places.

The symptoms I had were vomiting, diahhrea, high fever, severe pain in the right side of my lower stomach, and the inability to stand upright due to pain.

Hope this helps!
