barium solution really scared

Hello i have slow motility either due to meds or a liver problem the dr wants me to do a test that requires me to drink barium. Is that really constipating? I thought one of my intestines might be kinked or twisted. Should I be doing a barium enema instead? Please help I am so worried. If it is already slow to move i've seen posts where they say it turns to a concrete like consistency. Anything at all will help.

The big thing with barium is to make sure you drink copious amounts of water after the test and throughout the next day. Typically the only time barium causes issues is when someone is dehydrated, or doesn't flush their system with fluids after the test.

If the problem is somewhere in the small intestine, having a barium enema won't show anything and it would be a waste of time and money.
